Real talk, several owners aren’t really mega-rich anymore, the NBA should take control of those teams.

Generally a team is a luxury item, a toy for someone who has everything. If you are lucky and in the right city, you might even make money. Owners aren’t liquid, those bn dollar figures are tied up in their primary firms. They then often get revolvers (think of them as credit cards for giant companies, this is why everything can just roll along.
If the underlying business fails, the team and league can be in real jeopardy. When the payroll of the team is less than the net worth of the owner, the situation is critical. Really anything less than the owner being at 10x the cap is unsustainable, thus a legit solo owner needs to be worth one billion dollars.
Some of these owners who had less than 5bn who’s primary businesses are collapsing may be in a pretty sad state. If you want to know how a team is doing, look at the owner, how much are they worth and what are they doing. Are they a professional sportsperson? Is that team their only business? If so they are not in a position to pay anyone as they won’t be able to pay the players much longer. Are they running a hedge fund in some now collapsed sectors? Like a PE focused fund in the cruise ship, novelty restaurant, and casino space?
This isn’t a post apologizing for these folks, but a way of saying, get your popcorn you might just see NBA meets TMZ with a splash of the Wall Street Journal.

How a little mistake can make you loose interest in a story, an example by [Tomodachi Game] (major spoilers)

I really enjoy psychological battle manga. It's a taste I acquired back when I first read Death Note further refined by Code Geass, Gamble Fish, Imawa no Kuni no Alice, and lately No Game No Life, as well as my personal favorite and greatly underappreciated Medaka Box (shout out to the greatest antihero of all Kumagawa Misogi!). I was quite enthralled when I first found Tomodachi Game. Here was a story focused solely on dragging the characters from one game to another and making them duke it out using every underhanded tactic possible. The stakes were high, the premise quite fresh, and the hook interesting enough to get me invested in what was going to happen.
And then it was ruined by the authors greed of wanting to up the ante to a point of ridiculousness... at which point he lost sight of his original premise. Such a shame.
The quarantine makes me a little bored, so for a little exercise i decided to burn all my remaining interest in the series in this post, as well as destroy any potential interest anyone else might have. If you want to keep enjoying it, I advise against reading further. I'm going to rip this series a new one. It deserves it for making me like it and then betraying me. Also don't read if you're not familiar with the series as there will be a lot of spoilers, and I will be not addressing a lot of the earlier premises. I really want to focus on ONE thing in particular that pissed me to no end. If you wonder whether just one thing is enough to warrant this animosity then please judge me after I'm done. Thank you.
Anyway you have been warned.
Tomodachi Game is a manga about a group of friends that is forced to participate in a game where losing means incurring a debt the size which makes it virtually impossible to pay of. How did they get in? One member of the group nominated them all for entry in an attempt to clear all of his previous debt. One of them is a traitor.
It gets more complicated afterwords. Secrets are revealed, feelings betrayed, and the stakes raised with every game. Or should I say "the stakes are dug deeper"? Since the continued participation in the Tomodachi Game is always resting on the main cast having debt they want to be cleared of, the game is always played on the other side of the scale. It is never about how much they can win but how much closer to owing 0 can they get. This is what caught my interest at first. The characters are playing for their lives but not in a sense where they are threatened with death. They continue game after game for a pragmatic reason, as well as for the emotional investment they have in each other.
You, the reader, just need to overlook the practical application of said reason by Tomodachi Game. The Management of TG sets up rules with penalties every step of the way. Break a rule - double your debt. Fail a game - pay us another 100M. You sneezed during a game - now you're 500M more in debt. They throw that s**t around like Hogwart Points. It made me scream more than once "That's not how debt works! You can't just decide on a whim that someone owes you more! That's basically creating money out of thin air!". I would calm down after a little outburst momentarily though, because what's the point in caring about a little exaggerated premise of a series. If it's all in the name of building tension then I can provide some suspension of disbelief. It's stupid, but so what if it's entertaining? Move on.
I've been moving on for about 50 chapters before the series jumped the shark. I'm done. Now it's time to play a game called "Spot the Bullshit".
The series enters a new arc. The Tomodachi Game pitches our main cast agains three other teams onboard a cruise ship with a casino. The theme of this arc is "Gambling": https://mangadex.org/chapte233547/21 But how will our heroes gamble when they are already in debt? They have to place their teammates as collateral, use that money to gamble, and then buy them back at any moment they feel comfortable. There is a catch though. https://mangadex.org/chapte243767/6 Also God didn't make everyone equal. https://mangadex.org/chapte243767/9 https://mangadex.org/chapte243767/10 "Yuuichi-kun is priceless!" - I like that one. :) So far so good. Pretty easy to understand. So who do we sell first? https://mangadex.org/chapte243767/26 80M Yen for a starting budget is a little small compared to the competition. https://mangadex.org/chapte243767/30 https://mangadex.org/chapte243767/31 And without further ado lets start the first game in this arc. I can't stress enough how I regret that it had to be Poker.
A little intermission for my personal thoughts on the matter. Gambling is defined as a bet with money (or something of a set value) being decided on the outcome of a game of chance. That last part is very important. A game of CHANCE. So something our cast of characters has NOT been doing for the entire story. Now that is being challenged, or rather repackaged as "gambling" even when the story continues with the MC outwitting everyone out of their money. Why would you do that is beyond my imagination. Was no research being done into the nature and philosophy of gambling, or was the research disregarded? And why do you have to use Poker as an entry into that? Roulette, Blackjack, Craps. That's gambling. Poker is a game of skill! But... in the name of building tension, right? Maybe it won't be bastardized. Suspension of disbelief... Let's try.
So our first game begins. How does it go? https://mangadex.org/chapte243767/33 Not that well. I guess we are playing against stereotypes. I find this interesting and can assume it's a part of the keikaku of a great mastermind. But we have to continue, so Team Yuuichi decides to change players and genius boy Shinomiya Kei sits at the table. Now we just need to secure some funding. https://mangadex.org/chapte290277/10 That will do nicely as Kei will confidently tell you. What I will tell you though that a 10M stack sitting down with stacks 20x it's size is suicide in Poker. Also the readers have yet to know what variation of Poker an what stakes the players are using. What's the minimum bet till now? What's the ante? What is this farce?! But... in the name of building tension, right? Suspension of disbelief... Let's try. Kei sits down with a sassy attitude and proceeds to take the game into his own hands. Starts by antagonizing the other players, and then orders a new deck and a dealer for impartiality. It took them loosing 80M to do that? Really? No matter, let's keep going. The dealer shuffles the deck. Kei pays attention. Kei calculates the position of the cards in the shuffled deck. Yes, you read it correctly. He's a genius, and geniuses don't bluff. https://mangadex.org/chapte290277/22 All in right of the bat. Just as in any other professional High-stakes Poker. But who will nitpick in a game with irregular rules? We have calls all around. Some cards get changed. Time to give the other players a chance to raise. https://mangadex.org/chapte290277/24 The OTHER players. You don't bet with what you don't bring to the table! If you play poker and this makes you want to puke then you're not alone. Dealer makes an allowence based on the other players consent. Who would be this stupid to do that? If only one person says "No" it shouldn't be allowed. They think it's fine? ...in the name of building tension, right? Suspension of disbelief... Let's see where this goes. What even is Kei's plan? https://mangadex.org/chapte290277/26 Right. Sounds legit. So we got one fold, and two calls. The pot is 160M Yen, and if Kei's wrong about the result that means he's out of the game and must sell himself of. Where do we get the calls from? From confidence. https://mangadex.org/chapte290277/32 Confidence that people play poker holding their cards like amateurs. (Why do I keep reading this? Why do I do this to myself?) Lets speed this up. We win. https://mangadex.org/chapte290277/36 A convoluted explanation follows as to what was happening in the background. Boring. Do we keep playing? https://mangadex.org/chapte325676/10 No we do not. Our team now has 160M Yen, and they are quitting while they are ahead.
Now take a moment to see if you can spot the gaping hole in the plot here. Answer below.

Out of that 160M in the pot that they "won" 40M was conditional on Kei being collateral. It would only be paid if Kei lost the Showdown, and in that instance he would be banned from further participation. Keep reading to see that this didn't happen. Kei kept being unobstructed, and a key player through the rest of the story arc in which case the team should ONLY be holding 120M. Do you see it?
Why does it matter?
We are meant to believe that Tomodachi Game is run by people who have no compassion. The Management keeps the players in by the debt they incurred, and threatening them with more at every turn. We are talking about the kind of people that if you refused further participation, or lost beyond any means of return, they would sell you of to one rapist after another, and would sell your organs once there would be no more takers. And probably do the same to your family and dog. All in the name of clearing that debt. Also for entertainment. The only thing more scary is the thought of what kind of people do their accounting.
So I am willing to let go of a lot of thing in the name of suspension of disbelief, but the thought that someone from Management of TG missed this mistake is not one of them. Tomodachi Game increases your debt on a whim, and charges you an arm and a leg to decrease it, but they just casually overlooked this? Bulls**t.
The author dropped the ball. Big time. Even worse now that bankroll the main cast is carrying was used as ammunition for further events in the story. It all cascades from this point, and it's based on a writing and editorial mistake. Any other story with a hole like this I would have treated as trivial, but when your entire premise rest on "Bonds of friendship are tested by materialism, and hardship", or when you are constructing an intricate game where the slightest mistake means a loss equal to that of your life, then this is no longer acceptable.

After rewatching the office for the millionth time

I always felt they should have clarified the timeline of jim and pam. Apparently shes been there 3 years in season 1. So jim basically was friendzoned for a while. They needed to clarify it on the casino night episode. Where Pam tells Jim, Ive been here for 3 years. Roy has been here for 4 years, Roy got me the job here. Why didnt you tell me sooner Jim? And then jim can say well for that exact reason he didnt want to impede on Pams relationship and fiance. He respected her space. But over the years he developed feelings more than friendship. While Pam also developed those feeling a bit too but because she was with roy for so long and if it wasnt for roy working at DM she would have never met Jim. Etc. So even after Roy tries to take jims head off, Jim is kind of thankful to roy for getting Pam the job at DM. In the end roy meets someone for him, and so does jim. They kinda flirted this idea on booze cruise where roy was kinda hitting it off with jims gf. We really dont know the timeline, they kept it ambiguous. We know Michael hired Jim, Dwight, Kevin etc but creed, Phyllis and stanley were there pre michael as manager and they were hired by ed truck. Im guessing Meredith was also an ed truck hire. Ryan was Micheals last hire. First through a temp agency then hired him legit by season 3. All of this is left to the viewer i guess. I think angela and oscar were ed truck hires as well. Kelly is a michael hire if i had to guess. Give me your thoughts. We have plenty of time!!

Hold onto your butts

Crunching The Numbers

'Cause this game is total bullshit. I've been trying to find a way to grind this stupid bitch that makes it worth my time and will finally allow me to make enough to buy all the cool shit, without needing to spend every waking moment of free time on it for months. The first big thing I noticed that I really wanted was a Galaxy Super Yacht.
Contact missions pay out 10k a pop. Take 5-10 minutes as long as nothing goes wrong. Yacht costs what like 10milish? 10k/10min=1k/m, 1mil/1k/m= 1000 minutes per million dollars made. Times 10mil for the yacht. Would take 10,000 minutes of gameplay to buy the yacht with contact missions. Assuming not one thing went wrong in 10,000 minutes so that no mission ever took longer than 10 minutes, and assuming no mission were ever failed. Which is total bullshit. So lets add roughly 33.333% to that to account for ocassional crashed the cahave to extricate it from a ditch, got killed/had to respawn, no good contact missions in the stupid vote menu so you had to load freemode then reload contact missions, rando jumped in your bullshit and fucked it up. The usual. And we'll throw in a +/- 5% margin of error for good measure. So let's say 12,833 to 13,833 minutes divided by 60.
That comes out to anywhere from 213 hours and 52 minutes to 230 hours and 33 minutes of playing this stupid shitty game just to get a boat that does nothing. But wait, obviously no human is capable of playing all that straight so lets assume you are an adult who works full time and you only have time to play games, let's say every other day. And you aren't some horrible moron who only likes, cares about, and plays one game, ever. So lets say you're paying special attention to this one because you have to grind so much to get anything in it so you make sure you play this one in particular once every third game day. That's once every 6 days. So if you start on a Sunday for example, you can play GTA V all day that day. 10 hours! But the next time you play is next Saturday. Ok another 10 hours. But the next one is Friday. Only got time to play for a few hours that day because you had to work all day. But you can stay up late cause the next day is Saturday so let's give you a whopping 6 hours of play time on a weekday. But the next time you play is the next Thursday. A legit weekday with work tomorrow morning. You're gonna be real lucky if you get... 4 hours in. So in a seven week rotation you're going to get a total of 42 hours of playing this game in particular.
213.88 hours (the 0.88 is the 52 minutes) /42 hours per 7 week rotation = 5.09, 7 week rotations. 0.09 of a 42 hour 7 week rotation comes out to 3.78 hours which you can knock out even on a weekday session worth 4 hours so we'll just call that one extra day. 5 x 7 weeks = 35 weeks. 35 weeks x 7 days equals 245 days. 245 days / 30 days to a month comes out to 8.1666666666666666666666666666667 months. Well what the fuck is 0.1666666666666666666666666666667 months? That comes out to 5 days. Plus that extra day from the 0.09.
So in grand total. With a normal human schedule and interests. It would take.
8 months and 6 days of grinding absolutely non-stop contact missions, all day, every day you played, at least once a week, every week for that long. Oh wait! But since you're only playing once every six days, each of those six days would be an extra week. So about one extra month and two weeks.
So it would take 9 months and two weeks of grinding absolutely non-stop contact missions, all day, every day you played, at least once a week, every week.
Just to buy.
ONE.
GODDAMN.
BOAT.
Ok. That's fucking insane. And impossible. Even if you played that much, and I'm sure some of us do, no one in the universe could possibly have the discipline to absolutely never do anythign other than grind for cash. If you ever just fuck around or, god forbid, dare I say, have fun playing this video game instead of grinding???? Yeah, that's gonna add up and double or tripple this time. It's never gonna happen.
But oh, wait, thank god, there's VIP missions! Which pay out about 20K and take about as long? Hey that's great. That cuts your time in half to 4 months and 3 weeks!
Except that's also impossible because even if you played that much, and I'm sure some of us do, no one in the universe could possibly have the discipline to absolutely never do anythign other than grind for cash. If you ever just fuck around or, god forbid, dare I say, have fun playing this video game instead of grinding???? Yeah, that's gonna add up and double or tripple this time. It's never gonna happen.

My Abusive Relationship With Grand Theft Auto

Honestly, if it weren't GTA I would've killed this game with fire years ago. But since it is GTA, my all time favorite franchise, and because I'm a moron. I keep, fucking, coming back and trying to force this game to be fun and not a complete waste of my life.
So, eventually, after years of playing once every six months to a year for a couple of weeks or so 'till i get so goddamn disgusted by the pointless never gonna get anywhere grind whenever you're not getting griefed, admit to myself that GTA is a dead franchise and quit again. GTA IV was lame as fuck for being so goddamn tiny, and having none of the variety of vehicles that defined the franchise, and taking out like half the weapons (without the overpriced DLC). And V at least is a decent size again but has been rendered an unplayable abomination by the microtransactions. After years of this I finally made enough to buy a bunker. I mean I made a million a few times. Every time I quit playing, I would blow all the money I had made on whatever cars I could afford at the time. I had made maybe 10 million over the years some goddamn how, but only in 800k-1.5mil increments at most and then blowing it all when I quit. So I had a Bugatti, high end apartments, a stilt house, a Buzzard, and a Technical. But no Yacht.
I don't know how long the bunker had been out. Actually this was just 6 months or so before the Double GTA$ bunker sales event. Whenever that was, that's when I got a bunker for the first time. I stole supplies, and waited until they converted to stock. At first I was pissed at how little stock had been produced from the supplies, and how many times I'd have to run steal missions to completely fill my stock. But then I realized how HUGE that sale would be, like, half a million dollars in one mission!
Finally something worth my time! I could by the Yacht, or anything else I want in this game! In just 20 missions! That's achievable! If I do one mission per day that's just 20 days! So I grinded the fuck out of those resupply missions and completely filled my bunker. And it was around 500k in stock! I was so excited!
I finally launched the sell mission, with like a 250k bonus for selling further away! And then got butt fucked with three different Phantom wedges, and only 14 minutes to do the mission in. I had no crew. I tried to run one at a time and just hoped for the best??? It notified me all the other players could see my cargo, which I assumed was just the one I was driving because I was driving it, and that all other vehicles would not be in play until I started driving them.
Some shitbag blew up the other two trucks at my bunker before I was halfway to LS. Some other, or the same, fuck head griefed me and I lost the entire sale. After probably a week of griding steal supplies, which I didn't even realize at the time actually pauses stock production for no reason other than to fuck the player over one more of million different ways of ass fucking the player that are built into this game because if they were'nt no one would buy the microtransactions. Thanks Rockstar, real nice.
My whole xbox was damn lucky it didn't go out the window that day. Why the fuck this game didn't, I still don't know.

The Grind Guide

Anyway, later I stumbled on a grind guide, posted of all places, here.
Whatdayaknow, it recommended ignoring all other businesses but the bunker! It noted that you don't actually get a bonus for selling higher volume so there's no reason to take the risk/rely on randos or undependables for a crew to do a multivehicle sale! It recommended selling one unit of supplies converted to stock at a time, which always comes in one vehicle. And buying supplies instead of stealing because the later was too time consuming and paused production. You could make about 200k a pop, two hours to produce, grind VIP work and AFK between sales and you can make a million a day! With a fully upgraded bunker of course.
If I had a fully upgraded bunker, I could have probably made 10+ mil that week. In fact, everyone else did, I remember now because everyone was getting ready for the Casino update.
But since I had rage quit this game after fully stocking a bunker and losing everything to griefers first try I never had got the upgrades. So I spent at least half the 2x payout event just upgrading to maximize my returns. Fun fact, my first sale I broke even on because I took the buying supplies advice and turns out that is not cost effective without the upgrades! But eventually I did get the upgrades and did make a little cash after that before the event was over.
Eh. I made some ok cash. Got some pretty cool shit, I thought.
Got an Avenger, with a weaponized vehicle workshop, and an armory. Duplicated my Technical as a personal vehicle. Upgraded my marksman rifle to a MKII. Got an aircraft hangar because ever since I had gotten my Buzzard, first big purchase, I had always HATED that you had to call that stupid assed pegasus service instead of just having your own hangar like GTA San Andreas.
Hey that's got a business too! Yeah the grind guide recommended ignoring everything but the bunker, but might as well check it out right?
Looks like you can make some serious cash with a bulk sale of narcotics. But since you have to source it one crate at a time for 50 crates... hm lets crunch the numbers again yeah?
Assuming 10 mintues to source each crate. You gotta put in 500 minutes!!! just to fill one cargo category! And you can still get griefed when you try to sell it and lose it all! And since you made not one penny in all the sourcing missions... Another business designed to waste your time! Typical Rockstar bullshit!
Anyway. Before I knew it the 2x payout event was over.
Bunker work pays not shit at the regular rate. 400k per solo sale is something I could work with, only 5 hours to make a million. Now 10? I've still made some more after, like half the stuff I bought was after 2x was over. I just got the avenger and hangar during the event. All upgrades after. But there was nothing remotely fun about all that grind, 2x or not, but especially the not part. That's why it's called grind. If it were fun we'd just call it playing. What are video games supposed to be for again? Because I'm pretty sure grinding is exactly what the fuck I already do at my actual goddamn job all goddamn shitty fucking day. Just to come home and grind GTA too? Because that's what GTA is now? No thanks.

Counter Griefing? It's Not Happening

I've been getting griefed non stop in this game for the past 5 years and I can never do anything to stop anyone! I bought a buzzard. Jesus fucking christ are you fucking kidding me. The twin mini guns take like 2-3 seconds of continous fire to kill a car. Doesn't sound like much, but when the car is moving, and the bird is moving, and you have to point the aircraft at the car because the guns don't aim independently, and the aircraft moves in whatever direction you point it because it's a rotary wing aircraft, which means you fly over your target by aiming at it then have to come back around to strafe it again, and it's constantly wobling around just a little bit, but usually just enough so every other pass you line everything up right, only to watch your sights wobble AROUND your target. Yeah, if everything lines up perfectly you get hits on target for... 0.25 seconds at a time, tops? And nothing ever lines up perfectly. You gotta follow one car for like 2 goddamn miles just trying to fucking kill the thing. The lock on missiles? Well the blast radius is so pathetic that if it lands more than 8 feet away from a person on foot you don't get the kill which is stupid as fuck. But the lock on missiles? Now those are FUCKED. If you lock on to one man on foot and he's running, it's going to miss every single goddamn time. An NPC can literally OUTRUN the missiles, ON FOOT. Just trying to do headhunter, you literally have to wait for the target vehicle to stop at an intersection because if you fire lock on missiles at it while moving 19 out of 10 miss completely. Of course! An NPC can outrun the goddamn things on foot!
Once or twice I got lucky enough to take out another actual player on foot using the dumb fire rockets. But you gotta fucking snipe those fuckers with those goddamn things! And god help you if they've got lock on missiles, which everyone does. If they're in a car, you're NEVER going to kill another player with a buzzard. If they have ANY kind of armored or weaponized vehicle whatsoever? Yeah you're totally fucked. People wipe Buzzards off their windshields like dragonflies in this game, "ew" that's it.
Got the Technical. Can't shoot it myself. Don't have a crew. One time I was getting griefed by an Oppressor and I figured, hey it's an open aircraft...bike? And the technical MG should pretty much be a one shot kill, and it's an MG so it sprays. Spawned it, by some miracle managed to get to it, and get on it without getting killed before the OP showed up. Put the sights on him and opened fire, kept shooting at him for like 5 seconds nonstop MG fire before he got a missile off and insta killed me. Somehow managed not to get hit once. He wasn't even dodging! He was hovering, and I had the sights right on him for a second, and when I saw that wasn't working adjusted down a little for the recoil for a few more seconds, nothing. Not one hit. Totally fucking useless. How? I have no clue. You get caught infront of that fucking DSHKA you should be instadead in ANY AIRCRAFT. The only thing it shouldn't blow up instantly is any light armored land vehicle. Just the other day I thought to myself, no way, it has to do SOMETHING. So I spawned it and took some shots at a fighter I saw cruising around. Thing turned toward me, I had the hammer down, aimed right at the cockpit, nothing. Thing blew me away. Utterly fucking useless.
For years I've been getting griefed, and I've been thinking I just don't have anthing to hit back with! Those lazers have MGs that cause handgrenade explosions wherever a bullet hits! From a rapid firing MG! And the savage too! I got griefed in a Tank I was stealing for a resupply mission and the thing instakilled A TANK. And every time I make a little money I just blow it on another business that turns out is DESIGNED to do NOTHING but suck more money out of you and not even work to replace it, let alone make more! So the last thing I bought after the Avenger, customizing the Technical, and maxing out my MKII rifle was...
A savage! Finally someting I can grief people in so I can TAKE OUT GRIEFERS!!! And then it turns out the goddamn cannon bullets dissappear into thin air like 50 feet from the barrel of the gun. ARe you fucking kidding me??? The goddamn gun is even shorter range that the fucking missiles!!!! And the missiles are short ranged as fuck too! If you fire a missile at full speed, it blows up less than 100 feet ahead of you. Does that sound far? IT'S NOT WHEN YOU'RE MOVING AT FULL SPEED! It's like if the fucking Army invented a grenade launcher that the grenade airburst 15 goddamn feet away from the barrel! YOu're dead if you ever shoot it! You're sure as fuck never gonna kill anyone else with it! Unless it's the guy standing next to you who's probably on your side. It's Massively more useless than I was expected from the once or twice I've been griefed with them. The best part is how the lock on missiles lock onto oppressors but then just magically don't hit them for no reason even though they're locked on.
And here I sit, just as goddamn griefed as ever.

Is a New Business The Solution?

That brings me to Import/Export. Per usual I made the mistake of lurking in this shithole shrine to a game that used to be the best franchise of all time that now sucks dick. Saw someone ask about how to make money and some dumb useless asshole suggested grinding Import/Export. With a garage full of top end vehicles you can make several million a day! Just ignore all but the high end cars...
So I went back to the grind. Again. And tried. Again.
Made a million, bought maze bank.
Found out you literally get nothing that comes with that purchase what so goddamn ever. You literally can't even do any missions associated with the property until you buy ANOTHER property. Jesus fucking christ. The bunker has upgrades too but at least you can use the goddamn thing immediately after buying what the fuck!
So I make ANOTHER 1.5 million buy a garage. Just got it. Do the first vehicle cargo mission. It's a top end vehicle. The mission was stupid as fuck. NPC driving the car around in a circle at the airport. I parked in front of him and this guy intentionally rams a 2.5 MILLION dollar car into a fucking volvo for getting in his way goddamn. So I had to shoot him out of there, and he doesn't even try to run if you start shooting at him. Which made it easier but still. Stupidest goddamn thing I've ever seen.
I get the car, it's got 13k in damage. I sell high end with another 20k in upgrades for 100k. Eh. 10-15 minutes 100k... not bad? Except. Wait. Minus 33k. I only actually made 66k. Well that's still not bad. Beats VIP work.
Except. There's no way you can select for quality of cars you want to steal, and apparently my 2.5 MILLION DOLLAR BUSINESS will happily deal in stealing and selling 20k cars! Oh by the way 66k is like 2.5% of the value of the car I stole and sold.
So now you have to factor all the time you waste on low end sales into the equation of how much you're making on the high end which is 2.5% the value of the cars. That's a pretty fucking spectacular discount. At MY expense. Has rockstar ever had a sale of 97.5% off ANYTHING in this game??? But every mission I do is for 2.5%. Damn Rockstar. Guess you gotta sell those microtransactions huh?
So I decide I'm not going to waste time on low end cars. I'll just destroy them and fail those missions on purpose to minimize time/space wasted on them and only actually do the high end missions. Then I'll just have to factor all the time wasted blowing up low end cars into the money I make selling the high end one and see how much I actually make over time. I guarangoddamntee you it's not going to be more than just grinding VIP missions would've been in the first place. Even if every export was high end, and if you're lucky 5 minutes stealing, 5 minutes selling, that's about 60K per 10 minutes which is only tripple VIP work. Not bad. EXCEPT throw in getting to, and trashing two low end cars between high end sales, now you're looking at 60k per 20, 30, 35 minutes. Just about at, or LOWER than grinding VIP work!
AND I JUST PAYED 2.5 GODDAMN. MILLION. DOLLARS. For the "privilege" of NOT even being able to make MORE money than VIP WORK with this business!!! I could've saved that money for a goddamn AKULA, which I don't even think has a gun, but at least would get me off the radar and make me a LITTLE harder to grief!!!
BUt don't worry! It's worse! To test my theory I tried a couple more Import/Export missions. The very next one didn't even TELL ME whether it was a high end car or not! Because it's that stupid assed mission where you have to use the picture to find where the car is and even though they knew car value was important enough to text you what the car value is for missions by default, when they change the format the morons forgot to make sure they were still doing that. So I had to go through the whole goddamn mission just to find out it was a midrange car and made like 18 goddamn thousand on it. LESS THAN VIP.
The next mission was for a midrange car but I had to drive really far to get to and destroy it to end the mission. Then go back to the office. The next mission was a mid range car but it was point to point time trial to win it. So there WAS NO CAR for me to be ABLE to destroy to skip the mission. I literally just had to RUN OUT THE FUCKING TIMER.
All told I spent an hour after I bought the garage just feeling out the missions, and I only made about 80k from the first and second sales. Could probably make 100-150k per hour grinding VIP. Total waste of the 2.5 million dollar buy in. Which is exactly what Rockstar WANTED it to be, so there'd still be no good way of making a lot of money fast in this game. To divide the eniter player base into two groups. Shark card buying morons spending enough to buy a new motorcycle IN REAL LIFE just to unlock shit IN A VIDEO GAME
Honestly 100 bucks just for a 1 million dollar shark card and that's NOT EVEN ENOUGH TO BUY ANY PLANE, HELICOPTER, OR REALLY ANYTHING USEFUL IN THE GAME. And for the price of 2 brand new AAA games and ALL THE CONTENT IN THEM with no microtransactions.
And the other group. People that arent' stupid enough to buy microtransactions for whom the game is designed to be unplayable and they just get reletnlessly griefed for eternity.
That's it. I've been trying to make this game work for 5 years it's never been anything other than an exercise in frustration and a masochistic self punishment which is NOT the kind of thing im into. It dies. Tonight. Have fun fucks.

Sunday Games

Tampa Bay at Detriot (+3.5/+6): This one is all over the place. I am seeing spreads as low as 3.5 and as high as 6. It's a little curious to me. Yea, DET is starting a backup QB that has struggled a little going 0-2 so far. And yea, DET is 28th in sac rate, last in QB hit rate with a horrible secondary and nothing to play for this season playoff wise. And yes TB has been on fire recently going 3-0 and scoring and average of 30 ppg in their last 3... All of these signs point to backing TB...However, TB has the second-worst pass and scoring defense in football and Blough has shown the ability to get the ball to Galloday. Along with Evans and Winston appearing on the injury report, the Buccaneers could also be down linebacker Jason Pierre-Paul and receiver Scotty Miller. You would think this is going to be a shootout given both teams poor secondary and ability to big play throw to their WR1s. However, there appears to be some RLM on the total with over 75% of bets on the over, but the total dropping from 47.5 to 45.5. Very curious! I know it would hurt the DET draft stock, but I feel this is a prime spot for Blough to get his first NFL start/win. I was going to load up on props this game thinking it would be a shoot out, but the RLM has me worried in that department, so I will probably limit my exposure on this game. There are plenty of better spot this weekend.
Extra Note: TB has gone 6-13-1 ATS in its last 20 games as a road favorite...

Philadelphia at Washington (+5.5/+6): Well, I am kinda mad at PHL for that comeback on Monday night. :P
Speaking of Monday night, Philly is playing on a short week and has injuries to half the team. Alshon is done for the season, Aghalor is Questionable, Howard had to come out of the Monday night game due to cramping. This is a clear low scoring spot so looking at props is questionable. The total has dropped almost 2 points but not though any key numbers yet from 40.5 down to 38.5. The next big number is 37. Honestly this is a crapshoot of a game. Philly is still playing for a playoff spot but they just have such a limited offence to work with. With the limited receiving core (essentially the two TEs) the algo favors the under on the PHL team total of 23.5. Also, it's hard not to look at the home dog catching almost a TD in a game with such a low total...

Chicago at Green Bay (-4/-5): Here is a game that could have some serious playoff implications. Chicago is trying to win out just to have a hope that the right teams win and lose for them to make it in. GB is now playing for playoff seating. On a neutral field, I would definitely be favoring the Bears here. However, GB at home is a totally different team. They are 2nd in ypp at home vs. 31st on the road take that stat and add it with CHI has only covered one spread OTR this season...makes it a scary look for CHI. However, the GB defense is one of the worst for how good their record is, conversely, the CHI defense is much better than it's record dictates and the CHI offense looks much better chemistry wise than they did in the first half of the season. As you can tell, my model is leaning CHI here and there is RLM to support. Currently the about 55/60% of the bets are on GB, however the line has moved from an open as high as -7 down to as low as currently -4.
Extra Note: Bears: 7-0 SU and ATS when both teams are coming off a home game, and 5-0 SU and ATS in division games with QB Mitchell Tribusky when Chicago owns a winning record … Packers: 1-6 ATS in Last Home Games in division games when coming off a non-division game

New England at Cincinnati (+10): We're on to Cincinnati... A week ago, when we were filming there sideline signals...
In all fairness does anyone think NE would actually NEEED the Bengals signals to beat them... They came out as a 10 point road favorite! I dont get this one and honestly it feels like media bias to have something to talk about for a week and to blame when the Patriots win another Superbowl. There is some cause to be weary of this spread. Edleman is questionable but I just don't see enough to warrant a stay away. Here's an extra stat found for the Patriots: "The Pats are 41-17 ATS off a loss... and have been money in the bank for bettors in this spot for years as well, going 13-2 ATS in their last 15 vs. teams with losing records (which includes going 4-0 ATS this season) and a perfect 3-0 ATS in their last three after having lost two out of their last three SU. The Bengals on the other hand are a money-burning 8-13 ATS in their last 21 at home, including 1-4 already this season."

Houston at Tennessee(-3): This line moved quick! It opened as low as -1 but as soon as HOU fell on their face last week and TEN beat OAK, this spread quickly moved to -3. A justified move imo as since the RT insertion, TEN has been the number one offence in the league. They have also tripled their no huddle rate for a more uptempo offense. They will be facing a HOU D that has, quite frankly, SUCKED since JJ watt got hurt. The model likes a lot of Henry in this one (Not surprising he is the KEY to the TEN offense) combined with a ton of PA Passing for TEN going for big plays. The model favor's TEN but as the spread climbs higher it looks like a weaker play.

Seattle at Carolina(+6): This is one of the harder games for me to cap this week. On the one hand, its a west coast team traveling East for a 1pm game. On the other hand, its the Seahawks doing it and RW has a great track record in these games. Also, it looks like the Carolina defense is giving up... in their last 5 games, teams have scored on more than half of possessions vs CAR. Penny is out, but Carson is back and ready to go against one of the leagues worst defenses vs the run. On the other side we have CMC who is also facing a shotty defense. I do think this is a potential upset spot. Any time I see a home team plus 6, it always red flags a teaser breaker, however with the "destiny run" that Wilson is on this year I would say the chances are lower than a regular spot.

Denver at Kansas City (-10): Another one I am really torn on. KC has beat DEN last 7 times SU and ATS. However, we are still uncertain of the health of PMs hand. He looked great in the first half of the NE game, but then just stopped doing anything in the second half. Overall, he started the season with an 18-1 TD/INT ratio, but since returning from injury has a ratio of 3-2. Also, the DEN pass D is pretty good and has Lock on the other side of the ball playing with high confidence, starting his career 2-0. Don't get me wrong, its totally possible KC wins this game 27-13 or 31-20, something like that...but with the total dropping from an average 47 open to 44.5 now and the spread dropping from 13.5 down to 9.5/10, I think there is still value on Denver. KC will be playing as hard as they can as there is still a chance at the two seed. Still, as I stated, the model is leaning DEN and the points here.

Miami at New York Giants (-3.5): Not much to say here. Both defense are shit. Eli's last home game for NY and most likely his last chance to end with a .500 W/L record. I'm gonna just go with the Manning conspiracy and say that the Manning family had a hand in Parker getting his contract extension, he will sit or play poorly, and Eli will get a great game send off at home. No stats. Fade if you dont like conspiracy theories. XD

Jacksonville at Oakland (-6.5): Another big line movement. Opened at 4.5, is up to mostly 6.5. Last week the Jaguars, (31st) in run D, lost their best linebacker and leading tackler in Myles Jack. This week they lost another linebacker in Quincy Williams who is the fourth linebacker that Jacksonville has lost this season. This Sunday should be a great day for Josh Jacobs who only needs 246 yards to break Saquan's rookie-of-the-year mark of 1,307 yards. Even if Jacobs is hurt, DeAndre Washington, who filled in nicely last week, will get the chance to carve up the Jaguars. I do think that this is a good look for the over. Both defenses suck the only deterrent here is DJ Chark the shark might be out for this one, hurting JAX chances at keeping up.

Cleveland at Arizona (+3): This is another curious spot for me. The Browns are pretty much done for the season in regards to playoff chances. Theoretically they could win out but like the Bears they would need a ton of help, and a win over the Ravens. They do face an ARZ team that is horrible against the pass and has been a money loser for most of the season at home. The algo doesn't have a definite lean here, but as the points rise, the AZ ml looks tempting. This game also has the potential for a big props game as CLE has very good WCB match ups.

Minnesota at Los Angeles Chargers (+1.5): Some Serious RLM in this one. Almost 70% of bets on MIN yet the line has gone from a -3 open to -1/-1.5 in most spots. This is actually really weird. MIN has almost everyone healthy again, Theilin, Diggs...both back. LAC stadium as we know has almost no HFA...w.t.f. Also, this game missed out on the flex to the night game which went to BUF/PIT... Can you say, " The fix is in" All statistics point to MIN picking up an easy win. Then why is the line dropping? Well, lets dive deeper into the stats...
  • Los Angeles is home after a tough stretch of schedule and riding high off a 45-10 win over Jacksonville last Sunday. The Chargers defense has been especially strong, allowing an average of just 260 yards against over the past three outings.
  • The Chargers have been playing exceptional pass defense of late as they have the second-best passing yards against oveer their last three games and have held Aaron Rodgers, Derek Carr and Patrick Mahomes to just 561 yards combined and three touchdowns in three of their last five games. The numbers look even better when you look at all their games since November: 171.4 yards passing and only one opposing QB to throw for more than one TD.
  • Cousins is 3-4 SU on the road this year and has a completion percentage 17 points lower on the road than at home.
  • Chargers are 7-2-1 ATS in their last 10 games when getting the points
Maybe the sharps are considering this a let down spot for MIN as they are probably looking ahead to a divisional match up next week vs. GB.
One last piece of information that makes the Chargers one of the BEST SPOTS TO TEASE this week :
  • The Bolts’ eight losses on the season have all been by one score (one by 2, three by 3, and four by 7) and while they’ve gone 4-0-1 ATS in their five wins in 2019, keeping it close wasn’t enough for bettors sorting through a 4-7-2 ATS record on the season

Atlanta at San Francisco (-10.5): The 49ers played a spectacular game last week to get a win over the Saints. This puts them in the hunt to get the top seed in the NFC. However, their injury list is growing at a fast rate at the wrong time.
They’re missing bodies at receiver, on the defensive line, on the offensive line (starting center Weston Richburg on IR) and in the secondary, where Richard Sherman, K’Waun Williams, and safety Jaquiski Tartt are out or questionable heading into Sunday.
Since the bye week, Atlanta is 3-2 SU and ATS after 1-7 start. With all the injuries to SF here, I can easily see a backdoor cover from ATL. Hell, San Fran's final two games of the season are against divisional opponents (SEA and LAR) they might get caught resting and looking here and be in line for a surprise upset! XD

LA Rams at Dallas (+1): How did this game not get flexed into the night spot...? Is it because Philly is going to lose to Washington and this game means nothing for Dallas? I can't imagine if Philly gets a win here that Jerry Jones wouldn't want Americas team to not be in the spotlight when they are playing for a playoff chance...
Anyway, almost 80% of the tickets are on the Rams, and the line has moved heavily from -4 Dallas to -1/1.5 LAR.
If the Rams win out, they can almost control their destiny with a 96% chance of making the playoffs. There defense is better. Vander esch is still out for Dallas but Sean Lee may be good to go in this one. The Rams have been trying to get back to basics with Gurley over the last few weeks, and the Cowboys have been gashed in the run game so look for LA to continue with that strategy. Depending on how well Dak can move the ball against this Rams D, this game has the potential for a high scoring affair. The only thing that really worries me is with 80% of the tickets on LA and the line has yet to get up to -3, it looks as if the books dont want to give Dallas too many points. Maybe Dallas is actually the play here? Honestly, I think the best spot in this one is another teaser. The over looks prime and either side teased above 6/7 looks very attractive.

Buffalo at Pittsburgh (-1): Finally we get to the game that the NFL decided to flex into Sunday Primetime. Currently 70-80% of bets are on Buffalo and the spread has moved from 2.5 down to 1, but that isn't through any key numbers. Both teams have been great defensively and PIT sees the return of their starting RB. This has the makings of a tough, low scoring, grind it out type game. We say this every week it seems, but it's going to be a big test for Josh Allen to see if the Bills are truly a playoff contender or just had an easy schedule. So far he has done well winning 5 of 6 on the road this season with 3 of their 4 highest scoring games OTR. However, they will be facing a Steeler D that has been legit since the add of Fitzpatrick. Over the last 4 games(all wins) the Steelers are giving up only 16 ppg. Again, this game looks good for a tease. Both sides too in a low scoring grind it out game that looks to be decided by 1 score or less.

MNF and Thanksgiving Recap
Singles: 0-2 (-2.5u): Boy was I off here. I doubted the Raven's offense and they showed me! Marcus Peter's did exactly the opposite of what I hoped for and we payed for it by losing all our MNF plays.
Parlay: 0-0 (0u):
BBDLS: 0-0 (0u) Man this sucks. We lost a free bet here that I feel really confident is going to hit every game except the one it lost (the rams) Thats ok, big wins incoming!
SBBDLS: 0-0 (0u) None
Teasers: 0-1 (-3.3u) Oooooof.
Thanksgiving Recap: Ok. I am reaaaaalllly sorry I didnt post anything before the Thanksgiving games. I was rather busy and didn't have time to do a write up or post my picks. Unfortunately for you guys, you missed out on a big day by me. Not only did I pick every game correctly, I picked the totals all correctly too!! To top it off, Sugarhouse ran a Thanksgiving Day reload bonus and I got 10u worth of free bets there and Draftkings gave everyone a 0.5u free bet just for logging on and opting in. I Took my DK free bet and through it on a huge SBBDLS that had the bills ml and the under, and the saints ml and the under and is still alive. I broke my SH free bet up and placed it on a few different wagers. The first was Galloday and Robinson to get 60+ yards and a TD @ 20-1. This hit, netting us a 42u return! The second is I put it on a parlay and a BBDLS, both which are still live!!! Some big sweats for this weekend! :D
Note: I did not include any of my winnings from Thanksgiving in my win/loss number. The bets weren't posted, so they dont count! :D

Sunday Games

Green Bay @ New York Giants (+6.5): What a great game to start of the Sunday slate. I am so confused looking at this one. My algo has this game 26-24 GB with NYG PK as the generated spread. The total it generated was 48.5. First, looking at the total...I know its early in the week, but 2 out of 3 tickets are on the over yet the total has dropped from 47 open to 45/44.5 in most places...I looked into this because I was going to be on the over but this RLM has me confused. (The only reason I can see for the total moving down the way it has is the predicted cold weather, rain, and possible snow on Sunday)
The second thing to look at is the spread. This year, the Packers are 3-2 OTR and Rodgers has played notably worse scoring 11 or less in 3 of those games (winning vs. the Bears 10-3) and he has scored an average of almost 5 points less OTR than when at home. He has protected the ball well though, throwing 0 picks on the road this year, to only 6 TDs, in 5 games OTR.
So far I am quite torn. I was leaning Giants and the over and I was going to look at props all around. This RLM on the total and the weather uncertainty has me looking to back the dog or stay away. If I check Sunday morning and the weather has calmed down, I will look to take the over and props on:
Saquan (rush attempts and receptions): I can't imagine the Giant have much more of a game plan then keep trying to wake up the beast that is Barkley. GB is horrible this year against the rush giving up 4.8 ypc on the season. Even if there is bad weather, I may still look at Barkley's rush attempts. (Bad weather should lead to more hand offs)
Kayden Smith (Receptions) Against the pass they aren't much better, giving up one of the highest YPA percentages in the league. Both Golden Tate and Evan Engram are out for this game, so I expect Smith to have some extra looks as he fills in at TE. (Last week filling in for Engram he had 5 catches on 6 targets and before that game he had 1 catch on 1 target...all season)
Devante Adams (Receptions and yards). I mean, he is back and healthy. Rodgers doesn't really have another reliable receiving option and they are facing one of the worst secondary's in the league. Rain or shine, if his total is 6.5, I am rocking the over. If it is 7.5 and (+) I will consider.
Extra note: Packer right Tackle Bryan Bulaga might be sitting. If he does, I really lean NY and the points and look out for Golden to get a Sack if you have that prop. So be sure to check his status and the weather status before making any hard bets on this one.

Washington @ Carolina(-10): This is another interesting one. My algo has this CAR -7 and 44.5. Vegas has really pushed this one up there in the spread, and dropped in the total. I'd say the reason for the adjustment is the matchup and the context of the match up. The context is obvious, Washington is out of the playoffs and Carolina is mostly out, but they still have an outside shot with winning out and some luck. There are two key matchups and both favor Carolina. The first is CMC vs the Redskins rush D that has given up the 10th most rec yards to RBS. The second match up is rookie QB Haskins vs. one of the best pass rushes in the league. In the last 4 games (all of which Haskins played some or the entire game) the Redskins have scored 9, 9, 17 and 19 with both 9s coming on the road. Short of a D/ST score or a random breakout from a Redskins RB, I dont see them scoring in this game.

San Francisco @ Baltimore(-5.5): Ooooo Weeeee! What do we have here?! In possibly one of the best regular season weekends of the year this is a potential Superbowl match up. The weather is predicted as 100% rain. This is reflected in the totals. With the high chance of crappy weather I dont think I can touch this game. Also, my algo has this as only BAL- 2 so I really dont wanna put to much action on this game.

Tennessee @ Indianapolis(-2): Continuing in the weekend of exciting match ups we have a fantastic divisional game here. The winner gets a shot at a wild card spot while the loser most likely fades into the wind. I understand the opening line because my algo spit out 21-20 Colts with a line of -3. However, these teams seem to be trending in the opposite direction. IND struggled in October going 1-3 SU with a home loss vs. the Dolphins. TEN however, has going 4-1 since Tannehill took over at QB with a win over the Chiefs! Honestly to me, this comes down to TY Hilton. The Colts looked great when they had a number 1 to stretch the field and make big plays. But without him, they just dont run the offense as well. (Also, I am pretty sure the Colts next option, Ebron, is out as well)

Philadelphia @ Miami(+10): Both are coming off losses. Miami players are playing for next years contracts. Philly is playing to compete with Dallas for the spot of division leader with a .500 or less record :X
I can honestly lean both ways here and just like last weekend, I think the most important factor will be PHL injuries. If both starting tackles are out again and the majority of PHLs WRs are out again, who to and how is Wentz gonna throw the ball? However if the philly WRs return, Miami is one of the WORST all around defenses by DVOA and can easily give up 30 points... I lean PHL to win, but don't favor either side enough to single them. If I am gonna look at any props in this game, just as it has been since Fitzmagic came back, Im gonna look Devante Parker. Fitzy has targeted him at least 6 times in each of those games, targeting him 10 or more in 4 of those 6. Extra Note: Nick Raffoul "The Dolphins are down to two healthy receivers. Jakeem Grant was put on injured reserve Wednesday, and Albert Wilson has a rib injury that causes him discomfort and is uncertain to play Sunday. That will put added pressure on DeVante Parker and Allen Hurns to carry the offensive load. "

Tampa Bay @ Jacksonville(+2.5): Here we have one of the biggest line movements of the week. This opened as high as JAX -4.5 and has moved in most places to JAX +2/2.5. I really don't understand this much movement and pubic support on the Bucs. I mean, sure TB won last week as a dog, and Jacksonville is 0-2 over their last 2 games starting Nick Foles, but almost a TD swing with no significant injury news...?
My algo has this 23-25 Jacksonville so I really dont understand the move. Jacksonville sucks vs. the run, but TB doesn't have a run game. Jacksonville is meh against the pass so I can see the TB WRs having opportunity. TB is LEGIT against the run, so stopping Fournette seems reasonable. But, TB is the second worse pass D in the league. If Foles is gonna put up a fight for this job he just got paid 88 million to go 0-3 for, this defense is a great opportunity to start!

NY Jets @ Cincinnati(+3): First off I am so mad at this game. I put the Jets in all my parlays on Thanksgiving under the assumption that the Bengals were letting their rookie QB gain some experience points. However, now I find out Dalton will be under center as the Bengals try to throw everything they can at the league to avoid going win less. I still lean Jets as now they are healthy and just cruising on offense and they are going up against the Bengals D that hasn't really given any trouble to anyone. However, even though they were losing, I was still a fan of Dalton's competitive effort each game. Seeing him come back really hurts my lean on the Jets and it's possible you see me throw in some CIN into a parlay to balance the early week bets.
Statistically there isn't much to say here. We all know how bad the Bengals have played, they haven't won a game. As for the Jets they had their share of problems in the first half of the season, but are looking to finish strong.
If I look at props, it's gonna be Bell for the Jets as they have one of the worst run defense. If I look at any Bengals it would have to be Tyler Boyd receptions. When Dalton was in, he was the main option for targets.

Cleveland @ Pittsburgh(+2): Along with the above game, this game has me the most worried as the week progressed. This is a huge game for both teams that can have major wild card implications. I was all happy to take Cleveland to continue there shot at zero to hero glory. This game opened up at PIT -3 and has flipped all the way to the other side and now sits CLE -2 in most places. The big news is PIT will again be changing QBs. Duckman came in and sparked PIT over CLE last week and the Steeler org is hoping he can do it again this week. While he did spark the Steelers to a win, he completed less than 50% of his passes in that game. The Steelers will again be without Conner or Juju. There defense is pretty good so I expect Chubb to have trouble. To be honest, Kareem Hunt might be in line for a big spot. He is making a case as a RB to be the number 3 reciever for CLE. I am still leaning CLE in this spot but most times there has been a QB change this year the new QB has out performed the spread.
LA Rams @ Arizona(+3): What is big news right now is if Kyler Murray is going to play. He looked good in practice all week, but apparently tweaked his hammy and is Questionable now. If he sits I dont even know who the backup is to give him a chance. If he is healthy and plays, I find it hard not to take the 3 points here. Statswise, LA has the edge. In fact, they are playing better on the road this year than at home. (however, that could just be because of match up imbalance) My algo is giving me a spread of LA -5. Even so, with the demoralizing blowout the suffered last week that really diminished their playoff chances, I am not sure they can get up for this game. If Chandler Jones can get to Goff and Kyler Murray is healthy....wooo weee

Oakland @ Kansas City(-10): Welp, another divisional game here. The Raiders shit the bed last week and only put up 3 points against the Jets. Kansas City is coming out of the last bye week for anyone rested and ready to go. What really gets me here is even though KC offensive players have had 2 weeks to rest for this game, that doesnt change the fact that KCs biggest weakness is their run defense. Combine that with OAKs greatest strength...Josh Jacobs...and I cant see how this line is so big. We have already seen the Colts and Texans take down the Chiefs in Arrowhead this year just by using a great run game. I can see Gruden looking to attack the same strategy.

LA Chargers @ Denver(+3.5): Both teams coming off back to back losses. Another divisional battle. This one sees a QB that looks to be at the end of his career vs... well we dont know yet. DEN is still undecided at the QB position. It is either going to be Allen who struggled last week against the Bills, or Lock, a 2nd round draft pick. Honestly, I dont think the QB matters. DEN is going to play to their strengths which is sound defense and pound the two RBs. My algo has his as DEN -1 Total 37. Neither team has any playoff incentive to win and every loss helps their draft stock. With no heavy lean, I'd say there is value in the Denver with the points at home.

New England @ Houston(+3): Imagine a day filled with divisional battles, playoff implications, potential Superbowl and Conference championship match up previews...THEN, to end the day you have two of the top AFC teams facing off that could be a preview of a playoff match up. That is what we have today. This game is important for playoff seating not much for the Texans, but if the Patriots lose, it puts them in line with BAL for 1st in the AFC with BAL holding the tiebreaker. My algo has this as NE -2. I expect NE to put up more then the last few weeks, first off they will be indoors. Second, they are facing the Texans D that is one of the worst vs. QBs. The big question mark in this one is the 17 or so players that came down with a sickness for NE. The one thing I am comfortable taking in this game is Watsons rushing yards. Not that hes that big of a threat, but NE has had trouble containing the rush with mobile QBs this year.

My thoughts and review of Persona 5 (and why I loved it so much)

The Intro

If you have not played Persona 5, please do so before reading this and it is a fantastic game that is absolutely worth experiencing knowing as little as possible and this post will contain heavy spoilers for Persona 5 in its entirety as well as some very light spoilers for Persona 3 and 4 but really nothing beyond character names and some allusion to events.
Also quick background, I watched a streamed playthrough of Persona 4 Golden last June and July, played Persona 3 FES back in February and March of this year, and then played Persona 5 for the second half of July. I have no experience with Persona 1 or either version of Persona 2 nor do I have any experience with the spin-offs outside of seeing very little gameplay and hearing some music.
And as for Persona 5, I played the entirety of the game on easy mode across about 2 weeks from July 16th to July 31st on a PS3 I borrowed from a friend after buying my own copy of the game. I maxed out my social links with Mishima, Takemi, Makoto, Ann and Futaba though Chihaya’s was at level 9. I also named Joker Ren Amamiya because canon. Anyways, here are my thoughts on Persona 5.
I don't think it's an overstatement to say that Persona 5 is one of my favorite games of all time. I don't quite know where it stands on my list yet, but I absolutely adore this game. I knew I would love it, but I didn't know I'd love it this much. So let's start with the game’s main cast which I honestly think is the series best so far.

The Characters

With P3, I found most of the cast to not be very likable characters, in P4, I was never really a fan of Teddie, but here I just like and feel for each of these characters in some way. And yeah, I know that most hate goes to Morgana but I honestly like his character. I know there's the whole meme of him forcing you to go to sleep, but I still feel like they pulled off the idea of a guide character really well. And while yeah, it doesn't always make the most sense for him to tell you to go right to sleep, doing so after exploring a palace makes sense since the game does demonstrate several times that use of a Persona is exhausting. Otherwise, yeah, talking with your friends and sending out a calling card really shouldn't tire you out. But, I digress. Morgana also comes into some criticism for the whole arc of running away from the Phantom Thieves. And while a lot of that comes from the bouts he had with Ryuji, there was a legit problem with communication with the team and I don't think it really just comes down to Morgana just whining and running off. Another part of it is just his feeling useless and insufficient which is a very real character flaw that did make his character feel more real. I did start to care for the cat.
And that's just one character, I know everyone has their favorites, and I'll get to that, but for now, I'll just go through the cast in the order they join the Phantom Thieves. First off though, I do like that they're all outcasts in some way.
Ryuji Sakamoto starts off as a troublemaker that people don't want to associate with and while his character doesn't evolve all that much, he’s still just a fun guy to be around and the Phantom Thieves just wouldn't feel the same without him. I actually did enjoy the banter between him and Morgana and it's one of those relationships where you can tell that deep down, they really do care about each other despite all the insults. One of my favorite Mementos interactions is the one where Ryuji starts singing and Morgana continues it to the next verse. Also, I did get baited and thought that they had actually killed him off after Shido’s Palace. He was a long standing member of the team and had he died he would've died heroically. I'm fine with it not happening, but it would've been a crazy twist for the end of the game.
Ann Takamaki is a foreigner who doesn't see her parents much and always has rumors spread about her. All she really has is her best friend Shiho who ends up taking her own life due to Kamoshida and gives Ann a reason to fight for justice as she does in the Phantom Thieves. And I actually really like this arc. Also, I totally ship her and Ryuji. Maybe part of it is just because they were two founding members of the Phantom Thieves and as such know each other for the entire game, but they just have really good chemistry and I just see them ending up together. And also she cried the most for him ehen they thought he was dead. And speaking of Ann, Shiho Suzui. She's nice, she's cute, she has a ponytail, and she's voiced by Christine Marie Cabanos. She has everything I look for in a girl. She talks to Joker once and tells him to hang in there and that he's probably a good guy. And then she jumps off a building and you never see her again unless you do Ann’s Level 9 Confidant. It's just sad because while she could've stuck around and been a great supporter to the Phantom Thieves at Shujin, she is ultimately just used as a plot device to get Ann to join the Phantom Thieves and she just deserves to be more than that.
Anyways, Yusuke Kitagawa is a guy. For me, Yusuke was a guy who said a few things throughout the story and otherwise really wasn't there. He was super important for Madarame's Palace, but otherwise, he just seemed to fall back into the background. And a lot of that is because I just didn't care for his character so he wasn't on my team and I didn't hang out with him. His character is fine and he has some fun moments like the undressing scene with Ann or his lobsters or just the fact that he is a broke artist.
Next up, is my Queen, Makoto Niijima. I just really love her character and she was the one I decided to date. And I'm actually going to go ahead and bring up Futaba who seems to be the most popular choice in terms of who to date. And from what I understand, a lot of that is relatability. She holes herself in her room most of the time and cool, I can totally relate to doing that. But I don't blame myself for something and think I should be dead. And I also don't have crippling social anxiety. And that's fine, I don't necessarily have to relate to a character to like them and I understand that a lot of people feel that connection to Futaba because of relatability. And I still really like Futaba’s character, she's a lot of fun, but I just felt a lot more of a connection to Makoto. Her main conflict is that she was so into her studies that she didn't really understand the world. And she just kind of listens to adults and do what they want. And her character growth across her Confidant had a clear focus and just felt real. I don't really want to get to much into my own life, but the sort of things Makoto feels. Sometimes I feel like I'm too into games and honestly don't know much about the world around me. Sometimes I question if I'm doing and pursuing what I want to do or if I'm just doing what adults ask. And while the latter is much more high school-specific, but best girl is always something that is completely subjective and always comes down to personal preference and perspective. And also, I see Futaba much more as a younger sister to Ren than as a potential love interest since both characters have a father figure in Sojiro.
Technically, the final member of the Phantom Thieves is Haru Okumura, who is honestly pretty great and I regret not having the time to get her Confidant to level 10 because I didn't realize just how good she was until Shido’s Palace and at that point, I still didn't have max proficiency so there was really nothing I could do. Haru is just cute, Her style, her voice, the way she yells “PERSONA!”, it just all makes my heart melt. And even though her father is just a complete scumbag, she still cares for him and wants to see him improve. She doesn't turn her head away and genuinely wants to help him. And that's really admirable considering that he wants to get her married to a guy who basically abuses her. And also she's hecking cute. So that helps a lot.
But, the there’s also Goro Akechi. And I'll be honest in that I really don't like this guy. Him being a traitor is something you could pretty easily guess from a mile away. And the whole 1,000,000 coins thing at the Casino Palace was pretty clever, I just never really enjoyed his character. He was pretty much completely against the Phantom Thieves for the entire game and I could just never really trust him. I really don't have much else to say. He literally shoots you to death if you sell out your friends (which didn't seem to be a bad idea sends Sae already knew all of their names and that they were connected to you). Yeah, he has a redemption and saves you by killing himself and then killing himself again. So he saves the Thieves, but we also probably would've been fine anyways. Like it seemed like the Cognitive Goro was more interesting in going after the real Goro and even still, it wouldn't have been a stretch for the Phantom Thieves to take down Cognitive Goro. Anyways, I just never really liked the guy.
So that's it for the characters is what I would be saying if there weren't a ton of other characters who have Confidants. And before I get to the characters, I just want to comment on just how Confidants are just the perfect evolution of Social Links. The benefits they give are actually incredibly helpful and even further incentivizes talking to different characters.
I only got Sojiro to Level 3, but even still he is a great father figure to the protagonist and just a cool dude. Mishima is a guy just trying to have confidence in himself and improve the world and that is something I can relate to. He kind of messes up at times, but I do relate to that and I just can't hate the guy. Hifumi is pretty cute as well and it's admirable how she just loves her sport and wants to improve. I like her arc and she has interesting development. Tae Takemi is a fun one as well. She just wants to help the world, but she was set up and just does what she can now. She just felt real to me. Chihaya also has an interesting arc and I love the concept of a fortune teller with a gift learning how to not just accept fate and instead trying to change it. Yoshida never interested me that much to continue, but his does seem interesting at the very least. Ohya is… very drunk. all the time as far as I can tell. Kawakami was good, but for whatever reason, I just never felt like getting her Confidant past Level 6 and I'm not entirely sure why. I don't really know anything about Iwai, but I do know that a kid on probation smuggling weapons is a really bad idea. And there's also that gamer kid that I never actually started because I never went to the arcade. I guess “Igor” and the Twin Wardens are also Confidants. The twins are fine, I mean I've never really been that big of a fan of the Velvet Room helpers anyways, and they function fine in that role.

The Sound

Honestly, I just never got used to Igor’s new voice. I get that it had to be different for the twist to work and doesn't bother me that much. But, even when real Igor came back at the very end, it just felt like a cheap imitation of Dan Woren’s fantastic Igor voice. I get that they changed his voice actor in Japan because Isamu Tanonaka died before full development on P5 even started and David Lodge is fine as Yaldabaoth Igor, but bringing back Dan Woren for the end of the game as True Igor for the English dub shouldn't have been an issue. And hey, I'm talking about the voice cast now, specifically the English voice cast because that's my personal preference. So I really don't have much to say on the voice cast. I think a majority of the voice acting is really solid. I think they picked a lot of great actors for roles that they fit. I've seen several interviews with the voice cast of this game and a good majority of them indicate that they related to the character in some way and really enjoyed their time working on Persona 5. And it shows. And I know this technically doesn't count as voice acting, but Lyn Inaizumi absolutely nailed the singing in this. She is probably my favorite Persona singer at this point. Almost every single lyrical track impressed me in some way with her voice.
So now we're talking music, I guess. Though before I move on from characters, I want to praise Shigenori Soejima’s character design and artwork. The character designs and outfits for each character look really nice and I also just really love what they did with the metaverse costumes and how they portray each character and their personalities. But, anyways, in terms of music: Shoji Meguro never disappoints. This game has exactly what I would expect of Persona music in that it's all fantastic. But at the same time, I was still just blown away everytime I heard a new track. Especially Rivers in the Desert. Hearing that track for the first time during something as climactic as the Shido battle. I had heard so many good things about the track and it finally playing there was just one of the game’s best moments. And Lyn’s singing also set the tone really well in tandem with the music itself. And Hoshi To Bokura To (the credits music) got me teary eyed. The high notes she held (specifically the “yo” at about 1:17 (that was the one that pushed me to tears)) are just full of emotion and just pulled my emotions out at the end of the game. Last Surprise as an incredible battle theme that I am still am not tired of. Life Will Change is also really incredible and is the perfect music leading up to the Palace fights. And I'll get to the palaces in a second, but for now, since there are just so many fantastic songs, here is a quick runthrough of my other favorite Persona 5 songs: Alleycat (also full of emotion), Ark, Beneath the Mask, Blooming Villain (it’s an excellent boss theme), Butterfly Kiss, Confession, Days of Sisters, The Days When My Mother Was There (perfectly represents the character of Futaba and her struggles), Escape, Keeper of Lust. Layer Cake, Life Goes On (probably the best exam music in the series), Memories of a Summer Day, New Beginning (not much to add, it just puts me in a good mood), Nothingness, Phantom, Price (it’s so so good and a really great palace theme, probably my favorite), Regret (really cool emotional mix of Blooming Villain), Sunset Bridge, Swear to my Bones (more emotion), Sweet (really nice theme for spending romantic time with your favorite girl), Tokyo Daylight, Welcome Home Master (way better than I'd ever expect music in a maid cafe to be), and finally Whims of Fate (also a really good palace theme, the singing is also fantastic here (also I probably should have mentioned how good Benjamin Franklin is at writing lyrics, they're great)). Persona soundtracks are super hard to rank since they have so many songs and have different styles, but Persona 5’s soundtrack is definitely worthy of the name. Shoji Meguro is just such an incredible composer. (Also there's that part of Life Will Change that reuses that part of Wake Up, Get Up, Get Out There and it's just really great) And the sound effects are good, there's that too.

The Story

So I guess I should talk about the story now. Oh boy, time to strap on, this will probably be a long one. And now's probably the time to mention that I got spoiled on some things either before or during the game because I use the Internet and I get curious sometimes: Goro Akechi is a traitor (pretty predictable), Igor isn't actually Igor (subtle, but it is a predictable twist), Futaba is the fourth palace (I got this spoiled like a few minutes before it happened and I kinda had a feeling anyways), Haru’s last name is Okumura (I predicted this one, but then I saw Haru’s last name, so I didn't technically get spoiled since I guessed, it but it was still spoiled before it was revealed in game), Shido has a palace (I was pretty positive on this one, but when I mentioned I was on the sixth palace, a friend asked if that one was Shido’s palace), and finally: the final palace is in Mementos (another predictable one I learned pretty soon before I went there in game). Anyways, here are my thoughts on the story.
The Beginning
Starting the game in the middle of the action without any sort of tutorials is really cool. It's just “alright, go, escape the palace" and that's honestly a great opening. And then you get arrested and drugged and interrogated. And then you learn that Ren has a criminal record and then you just become concerned for this guy. I genuinely cared for the protagonist and what happened to him and that was set up really well pretty early on. Also, I really love the idea of a guy like Sojiro taking you in in Tokyo of all places, it’s nice to see the game take place in Tokyo which just really makes the world feel alive. On the first day with full free time, I just explored every nook and cranny I could in Tokyo and it was just a lot of fun. And it slowly expanding throughout the game is great.
Kamoshida’s Castle
Overall, this is a really solid first dungeon. I like that first day and the fact that you ended up being super late for school and setting a really bad first impression and again, built up my concern for Ren. I was also pretty surprised about him just bloodily ripping the mask off his face. This happens less and less when more people join your team, but I did not expect that in the awakening process. Eventually “Vulgar Boy" (yeah, it’s Ryuji, but i love that the game calls him that) also awakens to his Persona and so does Ann and since Morgana also joins your team, that gives you a full team before you really start exploring the first dungeon and that's really cool. And then there's the whole thing of how the plot is intertwined with the school. Through Shiho’s suicide (which did shock me), and Kamoshida’s direct threats to you, as well as seeing Kamoshida just be a complete dick. And also the scene with Ann at the cafe was really well done. The palace itself was pretty standard in terms of music and design, but the plot for the whole thing is just really well executed and I was genuinely glad to see the Phantom Thieves take down Kamoshida, but not kill him.
Madarame’s Museum
This one was fine. The museum didn't stand out to me a ton other than that big laser trap and walking through the pictures. And it was alright story-wise. And interestingly, Yusuke was the party member I knew the least amount. I actually just thought he was just some random creeper that first time he was following Ann. And I do like Madarame seeming very innocent and actually being a complete monster that you see in his shadow. Also there was that funny moment with Ann wearing a ton of clothes. that was funny. And I guess the actual theft of his treasure was pretty cool. That was fun. And for the record, I did notice the pancake thing with Akechi.
Kaneshiro’s Bank
The palace itself was enjoyable, but the story for this one was pretty weak. Price is also a really, really good music theme for this palace and I love to praise it anytime I have the opportunity to do so there it is. Price is great. And the dungeon itself was fun to explore. I got a bit confused at the beginning, but after that it was pretty interesting. Also Kaneshiro is evil, but he's also kind of a goofball. I mean, what even is spending money to relieve stress? Also he becomes a fly. And as for Makoto, yeah she does kind of stalk the Phantom Thieves, but she’s really only listening to adults and that is a very key part to her character development. And also her trying to take down Kaneshiro to help students who are being taken advantage of the mafia makes sense with her character, but at the same time, I feel like the reasoning could've been a bit better. Like a specific student like Makoto or Mishima or something being exploited and then helping them would have been cooler. I also wish we could've seen his confession to his crimes like we do for the others.
Futaba’s Tomb
This one was cool. I figured Futaba was Medjed, just not in the way it ended up happening. And the Egyptian setting in the desert led me to believe that “Rivers in the Desert” would play here because I think literally sometimes. But having a palace for someone who is just struggling was super interesting and the battle with the cognitive Wakaba Isshiki was a good fight. And the week after where you're teaching Futaba things was fun and were my favorite moments with her character. And I did enjoy the Hawaii trip, especially the moment where they just talked while in the hotel room. It was just an enjoyable moment where the characters just talked about life like people do. It was a real good scene
Okumura's Spaceship
This was my least favorite palace in the game. I liked the moments with Haru and the shock of him getting murdered, but the process of exploring the palace itself was just not that enjoyable and it just dragged on way too long. And the music did not help. The clock on the boss fight was a cool concept, but I finished the fight with a spare 12 minutes so it really didn't matter that much. And there is the elephant room of the whole situation of Morgana running away, and while I don't hate it, it really doesn't help. It's fine, but it's still not a great moment.
Sae Niijima’s Casino
Easily the game’s best palace. The best part here ks the incredible mindfuck that is the team’s plan to keep Ren alive. From the lapses in memory to the small other hints, and the bad ending, the whole thing was a fantastically executed plot twist that the entire game built up to with Sae’s interrogation. And I didn't know it was coming unlike some other twists. Admittedly, it’s a little harder to spoil “the team knew who the traitor was and that he was going to kill Ren so they made a crazy cool plan to make him not get killed” than it is to spoil “Igor is fake" (and I'll get to that one in a minute). But yeah, that whole thing is fantastically well done. But you also get the great emotional scene where Sojiro finds Futaba’s calling card. You get more understanding of both Sojiro’s and Futaba's characters and their relationship and you also get to see just how much Sojiro cares for Futaba and Ren. And while I'm not a fan of Goro Akechi as a person, his character here was really well done. His plan at the school festival (which was a fun side event as well), as well as his joining the team was very interesting especially the part where he almost told everyone who the thieves were. I knew he was the traitor and that he would join the team, but it is still pretty cool to see him join here. And also seeing just how powerful he is really sets the stage for his boss fight later in the game). And then you have the actual palace that accompanies all of these great story moments. The moment you arrive in the Metaverse and realize that this is the palace from the intro segment is a really cool feeling. It isn't the end of the game, but you still really get the feeling that “this is it, this is what everything has led up to". And it's just a lot of fun to explore. And the gimmick of having to get coins was way less tedious than I expected (though part of me still wanted a palace where you just play slots for 3 hours). And Whims of Fate is just such a good music track. It was also just so surreal to finally be playing the beginning of the game again after seeing all the things you had to get through to get to that point. I mean, the fight was fine (I was afraid it was about to turn into the Wheel of Fortune fight from P3, but thank goodness it didn't, that fight was awful) but the main enjoyment I got from this one was the palace itself and what came after. My mind is honestly still blown on just how clever the plan for this was and that anime cutscene of each of the Phantom Thieves learning about his death was incredibly well done.
Shido’s Ship
Honestly, I would have been completely satisfied had this actually been the final palace. I knew it wasn't, partially due to seeing a spoiler and partially because I knew a Persona game kind of has to end with a boss fight with some kind of god, and, as powerful as Shido is in Japan, he's no god. That being said, this was a really great palace and is still one of my favorites. I really liked the idea of a cruise ship palace and it was executed pretty well in terms of design. Setting up 5 bosses at the beginning was cool and I enjoyed seeing each of the Phantom Thieves help get a letter of recommendation. I really enjoyed those scenes and it was cool seeing everyone have a purpose. Even Yusuke (kinda). And it was intriguing how everyone who had a palace all related to Shido (except Kamoshida, apparently he was just a pedophile). And the climax and battle with Akechi was incredibly well done and learning about his connection to Shido as well as his motivations and power just really solidifies Akechi as a great character (but I still hate his guts). The fight with Akechi was just really hype and pretty hard as well especially since it starts pretty much right after the fight with the Cleaner. And then it all comes down to Shido’s Calling Card and battle. Futaba’s calling card was really really cool and the fight against Shido was just amazing. It really has the feel a final boss fight. Rivers in the Desert just feels like a final boss theme. The credits even specifically call it the “Last Boss Battle Theme". And the fight is challenging and while Shido’s transformations and the Beast of Human Sacrifice are really well designed. The fight with Shido might be my favorite moment in the entire game (even though it lasts like 40 minutes). This fight is just near perfection in my eyes (It may be crazy difficult on higher difficulty settings, but on easy I had a lot of fun with it). And there's also that bit with Ryuji dying that could've been a really interesting plot point that really affected the Phantom Thieves on a similar level to something from a certain other Persona game, but I get why they didn't and this is so close to the end of the game anyways. And speaking of which….
I've honestly thought a lot about this while writing this, but I honestly think Persona 5 should've just ended after the destruction of Shido’s Palace. Have something in his cognition that won't let you fight him until election day and then have Sae tell you that she needs you to testify against Shido, timeskip to February, timeskip to March, Roll Credits. But P-studio had one more twist planned that is admittedly pretty good, but I am just not a fan of some of what leads up to it.
Yaldabaoth’s Depths of Mementos
Alright, so to start December 24th, 2016 might be the most loaded day in all of Persona. You go to school, finish up exploration of Mementos, get through an entire Palace, fight a cup, watch the world get transformed, get deleted from existence, max out your Confidant with “Igor” by learning he’s actually an evil god. almost get executed in the Velvet Room, fuse Lavenza back together, talk to real Igor rally every single one of your party members, climb the stairway to Yaldabaoth while fighting 3 additional bosses while also watching cutscenes of people disappearing, fight the cup again, fight Yaldabaoth, get the Phantom Thieves approval rating to 100%, awakening your OP Persona, defeat Yaldabaoth, watch the world transform back to normal, talk to Yaldabaoth about how wrong he is, talk to Sae about testifying against Shido, and finally spend Christmas Eve with your girl of choice. That's an absolutely ridiculous amount of stuff to do all in one day. And all of that except for going to school and spending time with your girl are all considered “after-school". The whole ordeal takes like 7-8 hours IIRC. It just messes with the flow of time as the game has set it up up to this point in the game. In the same amount of time you did that insane list if things, you also could've talked to Ryuji about literally nothing. Like, it’s kind of a nitpick, but it still really bothers me. And yeah, I know that you can also spend a ton of time in the Palaces, but doing that also eats up your evening and forces you to sleep right away. For some bizarre reason, you still get an evening after all of that. But let's talk the actual story of this segment. So earlier in the story, the Phantom Thieves were suspected of killing Okumura and people immediately turned against them. Goro Akechi even admitted that they probably weren't the one who killed him and their popularity still plummeted. Yet, Shido flat out admitted to his crimes and everyone continues to believe in him. It's also mentioned that the public will just grab onto whatever is popular and leave that belief when it seizes to be popular. So for the public to just ignore the flaw of someone that they believe in for the exact same reason they believed in the Phantom Thieves. So they should've just moved on from believing in Shido. And that was bad enough, but then you also have the moment when they just disappear and the game just feels like a bad ending. Which is fine, I liked the Akechi shooting you in the head thing they pulled with that twist. But the Phantom Thieves disappearing just doesn't make sense. And I can kinda get why they would disappear (if I go along with the logic that people still love Shido) since no one believes in the Phantom Thieves so they don't exist in the new cognitive world. But Ryuji, Ann, Yusuke, Makoto, etc. should still be in people’s cognition since no one knows they're Phantom Thieves. They should still be in people’s cognition even if the Phantom Thieves aren't. The Igor twist was immediately pretty great as was the reveal of Morgana being the embodiment of human hope. And the fight with Yaldabaoth was fine, but it just doesn't quite compare to the Shido battle. And the palace design for the depths of Mementos was OK, but that's about it. And idk, I just couldn't quite believe the idea of people believing that having no freedom is a good thing. That just doesn't make much sense to me and I'm just not a fan of that plot point. And that's about as much negativity on this game I can take. I love this game and it does annoy me that I didn't love that part of the game too much. But a lot of that has come with my reflection of the game. When I was playing through the game I wasn't actively angry at every plot point. And the way the game actually ends was way better than this anyways and makes up for my anger in these parts.
Christmas Day
So after the Phantom Thieves agree to meet up at Leblanc for a Christmas party, Ren essentially gets arrested for being a Phantom Thief and once they hear about it, they work as hard as they can to get him out (in the name of Morgana who’s “dead” at this point). And I love this message. Even if you're not a Phantom Thief anymore, you can still make a difference if you set your mind to it and work hard.
2017
So I did enjoy the scene where Sae visits you and her character arc ends with her pursuing a career as a defense attorney which will essentially end in a lost case most of the time. It's a really cool way to show her character growth and was a satisfying end to her arc. And then you finally get to come home to see your friends and there's not much I can say other than that it was a great moment. And then Ren spent Valentine’s Day with Makoto and again, it just kind of ties up the loose ends of her Confidant and solidified her plans for her life. And then the day where Ren must leave finally comes and you say goodbye to everyone and I always love these scenes at the end of Persona games. There's always something distinctly bittersweet about them. You've made all of these great friends along the way, but now it's over. And the game ends with a wonderful scene of the Phantom Thieves riding in a van with each other savoring their last moments. And then the credits roll and cue me crying. I loved this game’s story overall and it was so bittersweet at the end.

The Gameplay

So, only thing that's really left is the gameplay. And this game is a lot of fun to play. And I will be doing some comparison to Persona 3 since I haven't played Persona 4, but I do know that it did fix a lot of my P3 complaints before P5 (controllable party members, better Persona fusion, etc.). But there are still a lot of othee gameplay improvements. The replacement of shuffle with hold up is a really great mechanic to replace it. It essentially makes fights with Shadows you already know the weaknesses of way faster and also makes getting specific Personas you need a lot easier and less random. And if you want extra exp. you can always just do the all out attack, or you can ask for extra money directly. It takes out the randomness and makes knocking down all of the enemies way more rewarding and fun. And I'm not sure if this is a P5 change or just something from easy mode, but having enemies stay down when attacked a second and having everyone get up and be able to attack on the same turn just makes the battles lag on way less and again, makes the combat more enjoyable. And I don't think Technical hits were in Persona 4, but they're a great feature here and open up the possibilities of combat. And guns are great too. Apparently they were in Persona 1 and 2, but they work really well here and make it so some enemies have a weakness everyone can hit, but balance it by having limited uses per day and that was just a really clever way to do it. There's also the streamlining of battle by how it’s controlled. Assigning each action to a button instead of having a menu also increase the pace of battle and I think is just a really great improvement to the flow. The battle system is probably the main reason this game felt shorter than Persona 3 despite taking me 50 hours longer. Battles were way faster paced and way more fun. The inability to control all party members and the length of battles just made the game feel so much slower. But Persona 5 just felt way better.
Dungeons got a huge upgrade. 3 was kind of a trainwreck in that regard and from what I've seen from 4, the dungeons were 5. But like 3, Persona 5 has two forms of dungeons. The main ones that have a relation to the story and the “optional” procedurally generated one. Mementos was a huge upgrade from Tartarus mostly because it's way shorter. Mementos has like 60 floors where Tartarus has… way more than are necessary. Yhere's no fatigue this time and you can switch out your team at anytime which also results in way better exploration. This is balanced by SP recovery items being much rarer and I think a much better system than Stamina since you can actually strategize SP use to make certain party members last longer whereas stamina just felt super random as to when they got tired. Mementos is less strenuous to do since I was able to catch up to the next gate in just one visit unlike Tartarus which could easily take three to five visits to catch up. And you also occasionally get conversations between the characters which make things a lot less tedious.
And then there's the actual palaces that are just amazing since they're hand made as opposed to procedurally generated and the objective isn't just “find the stairs". You have to find the treasure, but that's essentially just an endpoint for all the different things you have to do along the way. They also feel so distinct from each other with different mechanics and puzzles and they feel like real places you'd go which goes along with the ideas of cognition since this is just how these people see the real world. And that's another cool aspect of them: just finding out what they were and seeing all of the things that would be in them. And also learning more about each character and how they see the world and why they are like they are.

The Miscellaneous Stuff

And I guess that's about it, but I do have a couple of things to say about the game that don't really fit into any other categories or they're things that I just forget until now and want to say. Shujin Academy might be my least favorite school in the series. There's really nothing to do there outside of class and the library. It's kind of easy to forget that the Thieves are High School students sometimes because of how unimportant the school is. And a lot of that is the story, but also the fact that there aren't really any Confidants there. No clubs or sports or anything of the sort. And while fast travel is super convenient and kind of necessary for a game with so many places, it makes the school even less relevant since you don't need to manually leave it every day like in past games. And it's really not that big of a deal since exploring Tokyo is great and a lot of fun on its own so it’s more of a nitpick than anything else, but I still wish it was more relevant past the first palace.
I also just liked the simple fact that this just felt like a Persona game made in the present day which honestly makes sense. But you have the use of your phone and the Internet intertwined into the story as well as something I can't quite put my finger on, but there's just something about this game that just feels way more modern than 3 and 4. And maybe that's just the fact that it's in HD. I mean the game is super pretty at certain points and is just super detailed at a lot of others. It's really pretty and made me remember just how big the jump from 480p to HD really was. And also I love how whenever you get a group message in class, you can also see Ann pull out her phone. It's a small detail that I just love seeing it every time. And honestly I really the Phantom Thieves group chat as well. It's a fun idea that couldn't have worked until P5 and it's just so enjoyable to see everyone texting and saying different thing, especially in the late game when the group is at its largest. And I also like that in order to streamline having such a large place like Tokyo, they made it easier to check current Confidants with messages and the map. And the map was just cool in that as you kept learning about more and more places throughout the game, it just kept filling up until you could basically go anywhere in Tokyo.
I also love the UI. And the fact that Last Surprise never gets old. And that Ryuji won't say fuck. And that the game is also on PS3, making it that much more accessible. And also Haru having a grenade launcher is great. And also that you can just not reply to an in-advance invitation immediately and just decide later. And all of the movies you can watch in the movie theaters. And that there's 3 of them. And that you can wash random clothes you find in the Metaverse to get cool stuff. Or you can just make Kawakami do it while you do something else. Or how you can get a deeper bond with someone through fortune telling so that you can skip a wasted visit. And that there's a crossword puzzle you can do at the table of Leblanc sometimes. And that you can customize your room. And Haru’s floofy hair. And Makoto has red eyes for some reason. And that Futaba has orange hair (still doesn't make sense to me, but whatever). And the fact that Morgana can somehow be a car because that's somehow human cognition. And that new game plus exists. And how shopkeepers have different voice lines while you decide what to buy. And how Igor having a different voice actually has a reason in the story. And I could probably ramble off a few other things as well. There's just so many things to love about Persona 5 and that's why it's one of my favorite games of all time and why I'm still thinking about it this long after finishing the game.

The Closing

Overall I just love Persona 5 and wanted to talk about it and that ended up being this 11 page essay. And I'm OK with that. But if you disagree, feel free to reply because I do really like to hear different perspectives on things. And I also just like talking about this game.

Is Casino Cruise Legit? One important thing we can say about Casino Cruise is that this platform is not a scam. It is a legit platform regulated by the highly reputed UK gambling commission and Malta gaming authorities. Casino Cruise doesn’t let down when attending to player queries, and that’s a good thing. A selection of customer support options is made available on the site, along with a thorough FAQ section. Looking through this suggests that the casino covers a boat-load of questions players may seek an answer to. Casino Cruise offers more than 1,000 casino games. And that’s because Casino Cruise uses Net Entertainment (NetEnt), Microgaming, NYX Interactive, and Vivo Gaming for software. This is a list of heavy-hitters. There’s no two ways about it. Is Casino Cruise Legit for U.S. Players? Unfortunately, this cruise ship is leaving U.S. passengers behind, which means it is not a legit casino for American players. Should something change in the regulatory landscape and this site decides to open their doors to players from the U.S., this review will be updated immediately. The Casino Cruise mobile casino can be played through the web browser on any smartphone running on iOS (iPhone) or Android (Nexus, HTX, Motorola, Sony, Samsung etc). Game choice is a excellent 200+ and unlike many other mobile casinos they’ve managed to pack in casino games of all genres including video pokers, Caribbean stud poker, keno and live dealer games. I do love the allure of a cruise and all the colors associated with the ocean, so it is was nice to sit down to review the online version of the cruise line, Casino Cruise. So why don’t you let me be your Captain for this cruise through a full review of what you can expect when you take to the online seas (and yes, you should expect a lot of nautical-themed jokes in here).
